Noura’s Justice for Some at Politics and Prose

July 2, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

IPS  boardmember Noura Erakat will be at Politics and Prose at The Wharf for a talk and bood signing about her newly release book, Justice for Some: Law and the Question of Palestine.

In her fresh analysis of the Israeli-Palestinian struggle, Erakat, a human rights attorney and assistant professor at George Mason, reframes the question of Palestinian sovereignty and Israeli settlements as one of international law. Her analysis focuses on several key moments, such as the 1917 Balfour Declaration and the ongoing wars in Gaza, to demonstrate how the strategic deployment of law has advanced Israel’s interests. Arguing that this outcome was not inevitable, Erakat shows that the meaning and effect of law depend on the political intervention of people and states—and that within the law, these can change.

This event is free to attend with no reservation required. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
