You are invited to a talk with award-winning Venezuelan journalist Ernesto Villegas Poljak as he discusses his new book, Abril Golpe Adentro (Inside the April Coup). Mr. Poljak is currently the editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Ciudad Caracas and has also written for El Nuevo Pais, Economia Hoy, El Universal, Ultimas Noticias, and others. Mr. Poljak will discuss the state of news media in Venezuela today and give first hand account of the role played by private news outlets during the April 2002 coup d’etat in Venezuela.
From 2001 to 2008, he served as head anchor on the daily television show “En Confianza,” which aired on Venezolana de Television, while also writing for the daily newspaper El Universal, a position he resigned after the 2002 coup against President Hugo Chavez. Poljak is the co-author of El Terrorista de Bush (Bush’s Terrorist), a book about Luis Posada Carriles and his latest book, Abril: Golpe Adentro (Editorial GALAC, 2010) is a contribution to the history what took place during the April 2002 coup d’etat in Venezuela.
