In the midst of Israel’s preparations for a full-scale ground invasion of Gaza and the rising toll of civilian deaths in Gaza, Phyllis Bennis joins Law & Disorder on KPFA to discuss the root causes of violence in Gaza and the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

She assesses the ongoing impact of systematic discrimination against Palestinians in Israel, occupation and colonization of Palestine, and the consequences of the United States’ funding support for the Israeli military as well as the United States’ considerable influence in Israel and the need for Biden to exert that influence to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and a halt to the violence in order to enable humanitarian aid to reach civilian populations.

Bennis discusses growing calls among members of the international community for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and an end to all U.S.-backed violence in the region, and breaks down critical points from her powerful op-ed in The Hill, ” As Israel and Gaza Erupt, The US Must Commit To Ending The Violence – All The Violence.
