Shared History, Common Vision
November 6, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

In 1963 Marcus Raskin co-founded IPS with Richard Barnett and in 1967 he wrote Resist’s founding document, “A Call to Resist Illegitimate Authority.” From the antiwar movement during Vietnam to today, both organizations have been critical in supporting social movements: IPS with critical research and innovative ideas and Resist with funding visionary grassroots groups.
For the first time, IPS and Resist will be holding a special event to celebrate our shared history and look to a common future. IPS Fellow Phyllis Bennis and Advocacy Director for IPS’ Break the Chain Campaign, Tiffany Williams will discuss the crucial role of “the second superpower.” Director of Communications for Resist, Saif Rahman will talk about Resist‘s accomplishments in funding grassroots organizations. And you’ll also get to hear from the leaders in these local movements for peace and justice.
So if you’re feeling a little down because of the elections, join us after the elections to discuss the grassroots movements and organizations IPS works with and the ones Resist helps fund who are the real engines of progressive change we all want.
There will be lightfare and sparkling wine. Please RSVP by November 5th to netfa@ips-dc.org.
