Book Event: Arabia Incognita
May 5, 2016 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

We invite you to attend the launch and discussion of the anthology Arabia Incognita: Dispatches From Yemen and the Gulf with editor Dr. Sheila Carapico at the Institute for Policy Studies. IPS’s Middle East expert Phyllis Bennis will be moderating the Q & A session.
Arabia Incognita helps readers understand Yemen’s unfolding crisis by tracing the country’s modern history from the strong anti-imperial movement of the 1960s through the present series of conflicts. The essays focus on Yemen’s internal socio-political dynamics while also exploring parallel disharmonies in the neighboring Gulf petro-kingdoms and the roles of wider pan-Arab movements and the United States.
The dispatches in this anthology were originally published in Middle East Report. They were selected by renowned Yemen expert Dr. Sheila Carapico and are accompanied by her Introduction. Arabia Incognita is published in collaboration with the Middle East Research and Information Project (MERIP), which has published Middle East Report since 1971
