Father’s Day Reading: E. Ethelbert Miller and Tope Folarin

June 16, 2010 @ 4:54 pm

Join us for this very special Father’s Day reading. E. Ethelbert Miller and Tope Folarin will share their work, which explores fatherhood from a range of perspectives. A conversation will follow, moderated by Jo Reed from WPFW’s On the Margin. This event is free and open to all.

IPS Newman Fellow Tope Folarin is an emerging writer. He was a top student at Morehouse College where he was selected a Rhodes Scholar. He has written about the cultural dynamics that informed his father’s high expectations for him and his siblings to succeed.

IPS Board Chair E. Ethelbert Miller is the author of several books of poems and memoris, most recently The 5th Inning (Busboys and Poets Press) and previously Fathering Words: The Making of an African American Writer. Mr. Miller has become a literary father figure to many writers throughout his career and he writes poignantly about legacy and those literary fathers who influenced him.

Josephine Reed, host and producer of On the Margin (WPFW) will moderate a conversation following the reading.
