Rally to Drop the Charges against Water Defenders in El Salvador

Join the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador (CISPES), the Washington Ethical Society, and others during International Weeks of Action to demand the release of Salvadoran water defenders before the trial starts on October 8!
On October 8, a trial is scheduled in El Salvador against 5 anti-mining activists from Santa Marta who were detained in January 2023 and are being charged with a crime that allegedly took place more than 33 years ago in the context of the Salvadoran civil war.
Now is the time to join together in cities around the world to:
- Show urgently needed solidarity with the Salvadoran social movements and the community of Santa Marta
- Say no to mining in El Salvador
- Raise awareness of the country’s human rights crisis
Join us in Washington, DC on Wednesday, September 25th 4:00. Faith and labor partners will rally across Canada, too as part of two International Weeks of Action.
