Yes, the challenges in the Congo are not as widely known as they should be but just as important and lesser known are the historical connections Congo has with the African Diaspora. Connections to the Garvey movement, Kwame Nkrumah and African American Studies Professor Yvonne Seon, mother of reknowned comedian Dave Chappelle, are just some of this rich Pan-African history.

Join SALSA and Friends of the Congo for this intriguing discussion with two Congolese speakers; analyst-activists Kambale Musavuli and Prof Yaa-Lengi Ngemi. An excerpt from the documentary Cuba: An African Odyssey will be combined with a dynamic interactive dialogue. In addition to covering the interconnections of the Congo with other social justice movements, participants will learn how to make direct links with change on the ground. A suggested donation of $7 will be appreciated but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Delicious Congolese food will be served and all proceeds will go to assisting work in the Congo.
