Sophia hails from the woods of Maine and New Hampshire, where she spent her childhood riding moose through the pines and befriending black bears in the blueberry patches. A proud graduate of Auburn, Maine’s late, great, Lake Street Elementary School (go panther pride), Sophia is also a 2015 graduate of Emerson College in Boston with a BA in Film Production, and a 2018 graduate of the University of York in York, UK with an MA in Comparative and International Social Policy. Sophia joins IPS in January 2020 as the Administrative Assistant and Event Coordinator for the organization’s Boston office. She comes with an array of informative experiences, including a semester as an unpaid intern in Hollywood, nearly 2 years as a freelance copywriter, nearly 3 years as the contract web producer for Walden Media and Walden Pond Press, and most recently, several months as a volunteer grant writer and operations associate for start-up immigrant and refugee resettlement nonprofit Victory Women of Vision. Sophia is also a writer, and her work has been published in McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, in The New Yorker’s Daily Shouts & Murmurs section, and most importantly, on her parents’ refrigerator.
