December 8, 2021 – The House of Representatives yesterday voted to approve a $778 billion Pentagon bill. National Priorities Project at the Institute for Policy Studies released the following statement:

“The passage of a $778 billion Pentagon bill shows the dual realities Congress and the people of the United States live in: one where enabling war and enriching military contractors passes for national security; and one where struggling people are told we can’t afford things like quality child care, paid leave, and dental care for seniors,” said Lindsay Koshgarian, Program Director of the National Priorities Project at the Institute for Policy Studies.

“The Pentagon budget cannot continue to endlessly increase, even while wars end and the nation faces deep crises from the pandemic, climate events, and economic insecurity. Some principled members of the House bravely spoke and voted against the $778 billion Pentagon bill. It’s time for the remaining members of Congress to listen to the people of the United States, and stop lavishing money on the Pentagon while skimping on everything else,” said Koshgarian.
