Late last week, the Kurdish military in Iraq released video purportedly showing U.S.-Kurdish commando operation against ISIS in Hawija. A U.S. soldier was killed during that operation, who happens to be the first American soldier killed during combat since 2011, when U.S. troops officially withdrew from Iraq. The U.S. has maintained a ground force of at least 3,500 since 2014, says IPS’s Phyllis Bennis.
