Public outcry stopped U.S. intervention in the Syrian civil war and has so far stopped increased sanctions on Iran. This presentation by Institute for Policy Studies Fellow and Director of IPS’ New Internationalism, Phyllis Bennis will expose how surprised Washington is about public opposition to wars and violence. Her presentation will focus on how to get what we want: more diplomacy to solve problems and an end to demonizing negotiations. She will show that instead of rushing to war, we can choose to make diplomacy work.
Discussion Leaders will be Stan Taylor, Director, LCC Peace Center and Jane Cramer, Associate Professor, Political Science Dept, University of Oregon.
