Through poetry, prose, and song, Post Traumatic Press 2007 tells the stories of veterans with direct experience of the military. For some, the intense experience of war can only be expressed in writing, while others are driven by the need to say something openly political. The book includes veterans from World War II, the Cold War, the Vietnam War, peacetime, and the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Veterans Camillo “Mac” Bica Thomas Brinson, Marc Levy, Walt Nygard, Jim Murphy, Jay Wenk, Dan Wilcox, and Dayl Wise will be reading their own work. The reading will be followed by an open mic.
All book proceeds go to Veterans for Peace.
This event is hosted by Melissa Tuckey, co-director of Split This Rock and member of DC Poets Against the War, and is sponsored by Split This Rock, DC Poets Against The War, Veterans for Peace, and Busboys and Poets.
