Transit Equity Day, a national initiative that was launched by the Amalgamated Transit Union several years ago. TED is “celebrated” February 4, Rosa Parks’ birthday, in many communities, in honor of the role she played in the civil rights movement by refusing to give up her seat on the (public) bus. Our mission is to elevate public transportation as a workers’ rights, civil rights and environmental issue.

This year, transit equity and other economic and social justice advocates in Montgomery and Prince George’s County will hold a community discussion on the related issues of public transportation and affordable housing.
