CANCELLED: Solidarity & Beyond: Lessons for U.S. Activists In Mexico’s Progressive Electoral Breakthrough

March 31, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this event has been cancelled. But please check back on this page, as the possibility for this to become a webinar is being determined.

In 2018, an unprecedented electoral wave swept veteran progressive Andrés Manuel López Obrador — “AMLO” — and his new Movimiento Regeneración Nacional party into power all across Mexico. How did that triumph happen? Has MORENA, the shorthand AMLO’s party goes by, been able to register real progress toward social justice? What can activists in the United States learn from the MORENA experience?

Historian Javier Bravo, a MORENA activist himself, teaches social movements at the University of Guanajuato. He’ll be addressing these questions and more on a U.S. speaking tour that will bring him to Washington, D.C. early this spring.
