Pan-African Conference: Millennium Development Goals

logo for PACCo-Director of Foreign Policy In Focus at the Institute for Policy Studies, Emira Woods will be the Keynote Speaker for Pan-African Conference 2010: Millennium Development Goals in Africa: Policies, Prospects and Progress.

Principia’s Pan-African Conferences discuss issues of importance to the African continent annually, beginning in 1998. Recent topics have included the following topics, among many others: “Aftermath of wars in Africa: What are the challenges and lessons,” “African women as pioneers of change,” and “Ethnic conflict on the African continent.”

The goal through this year’s Conference is to create awareness about the continent of Africa, contrary to what the media presents to us. With the Millennium Development Goals, the U.N. is trying to help countries. With this conference, we hope to encourage understanding of African countries through these eight areas.
