The Kairos Center for Religions, Rights and Social Justice presents ‘Moral Policy in a Time of Crisis,’ a historic conference focused on the Poor People’s Campaign’s policy prescriptions as expressed in the Moral Policy Platform to Heal and Transform America: The Poor People’s ‘Jubilee’ Policy Platform, a comprehensive economic program that centers those who are most impacted by the injustices of these times.
The conference will begin with a keynote by Kairos Center Director Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis and Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, President of Repairers of the Breach, co-chairs of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call or Moral Revival. It also features impacted people on the frontlines of struggles around housing, welfare, immigrant rights, water, health care, pollution, and militarism alongside economists, policy experts, theologians, historians, and labor, community and cultural organizers on how we arrived at this moment of crisis and what we can do to chart a new way forward.
The Kairos Center for Religions, Rights and Social Justice, directed by Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis, Co- Chair of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival, along with partner organizations including Repairers of the Breach, the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR), National Union of the Homeless, Union de Vecinos – Los Angeles, Put People First! Pennsylvania, the Nonviolent Medicaid Army, the Michigan Welfare Rights Organization, Raise Up North Carolina!, the National Women’s Law Center, Food and Water Watch, the Institute for Policy Studies and Common Defense.
