Justice In The Congo & Great Lakes Region: A Legal Framework
October 20, 2010 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Impunity, lack of accountable and injustices have reigned in the Great Lakes Region for the past 16 years. The United Nations has published a report that calls for the establishment of an international mechanism that will deliver justice to the people of the region who have suffered at the hands of armed groups and regional militias and armies. IPS’ Foreign Policy In Focus, in conjunction with Friends of the Congo will convene experts from the American Bar Association and practitioners of international law to weigh in on this matter by proposing a way forward for both local and international stakeholders to deliver justice to the people of Congo and the Great Lakes Region of Africa.
- Hadja Tall, DRC Program Manager, American Bar Association,
- Prosper Bunzigiye, Law Student, George Washington University
- Abbe Jolles, List Counsel of the International Criminal Court, Defense Lawyer
- John C. Floyd, author of International Injustice, Human Rights Lawyer
