As they say, it was the best of times and the worst of times. In 2008, sky-high global food prices ravaged the poorest countries. Markets swooned. Retirement savings were gutted. The Iraq War raged on.
Yet, we still have a lot to be thankful for. After all, the Bush years are finally over. Sarah Palin won’t be moving to Observatory Circle. And the Institute’s years of exposing the excesses of CEO compensation has helped to finally bring this crucial issue to the heart of the debate over how to dig our way out of the current financial disaster.
So please join us in jeering the bad and celebrating the good in 2008 at IPS’ annual winter solstice party.
As in past years, there will be food, drink, and entertainment. Feats of strength may be performed. And come prepared to laugh at this year’s theatrical tour de force by the IPS thespians.
Happy holidays from all of the IPS staff.
