Global Day of Action on Military Spending

April 17, 2012 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

GDAMS logoIn 2010 alone, global military spending rose to an all-time high amount of $1.63 TRILLION! Because we encounter countless crises in today’s world -poverty, hunger, lack of education, poor health care, environmental issues – it is essential that we come together and create a global movement focusing on what IS important: human lives and their needs. It really is up to us… if not, then who? But we must act NOW!

Tuesday April 17th is the Global Day of Action on Military Spending, co-sponsored by the Institute for Policy Studies in DC and the International Peace Bureau in Geneva, Switzerland. More than 130 groups in 40 countries, and in more than 50 cities around the U.S. will take action to demand that military spending be cut, and that spending priorities shift to fund basic human needs.
In Washington DC, the day will be marked with a walk of shame for tax-dodging war profiteers, beginning at noon from 18th and M St. NW and ending up at freedom plaza.
