Film & Discussion: What We Are Leaving in Iraq

Alice and Lincoln Day, long-time members of the Woman’s National Democratic Club and sociologists and producers/directors of Scarred Lands and Wounded Lives: The Environmental Footprint of War, will launch their new short documentary, What We Are Leaving in Iraq – An Iraq War Veteran Speaks about What He Saw. The film features an Interview with former Sergeant Michael Fitzpatrick and is illustrated with selections from the 3,000 photos he took during his two deployments in, 2004-2008. The film will be followed by a panel discussion with panelists:

  • Phyllis Bennis is the director of the New Internationalism project at the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS). Her books include Ending the Iraq War: A Primer and Ending the US War in Afghanistan: A Primer.
  • Brent Blackwelder is President Emeritus of Friends of the Earth. He has served as an environmental activist for over 40 years and is the most senior environmental lobbyist in Washington. He has testified in front of Congress on environmental issues more than 100 times.
  • Kevin Martin is the Executive Director of Peace Action and Peace Action Education Fund and has been a peace and social justice activist for 25 years.

Price: $18 members; $23 non-members. Register online. There will be refreshments; hot & cold hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar.
