Midshore Riverkeeper Conservancy, in partnership with Chesapeake College, Town Creek Foundation, and the Center for Leadership in Environmental Education (CLEEn), is proud to present, for one night only, This Changes Everything, a film written and narrated by Naomi Klein.
Inspired by Naomi Klein’s international non-fiction bestselling book, This Changes Everything, the film is an epic attempt to re-imagine the vast challenge of climate change. It presents seven powerful portraits of communities on the front lines, from Montana’s Powder River Basin to the Alberta Tar Sands and beyond, and connects the carbon in the air with the economic system that put it there. Klein builds to her most controversial and exciting idea: that we can seize the existential crisis of climate change to transform our failed economic system into something radically better.
An impressive gathering of 200 countries, COP 21 has created a historic agreement to limit global climate change to 2˚C. This film screening and discussion will be a great opportunity for the audience to hear first-hand from conference participants how to interpret the agreement and what it means to nations, economies, and global citizens. Taken together, the movie and COP 21 challenge us to remake the global economy to avoid unmanageable changes in the global environment.
