Film: People Are the Sky

June 24, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

People Are The Sky

Join Dai Sil Kim-Gibson, a North Korea born, Korean American filmmaker for the screening of her film, People Are the Sky. The screening is co-sponsored by IPS, CodePink, National Association of Korean Americans, Veterans for Peace—Korea Peace Campaign, and Women Cross DMZ. Kim-Gibson’s eighth and most personal film, People Are the Sky takes Dai Sil to her place of birth in North Korea for the first time in nearly 70 years where she meets Inmin (ordinary people).

Using her personal story, and through a mix of interviews, epic images and graceful musings, Kim-Gibson captures the fractious history of the North/South division and explores the relationship between the US and North Korea.

A discussion with Dai Sil Kim-Gibson will follow the screening, moderated by IPS board member Noura Erakat. This event will follow the Thursday, June 23 daylong conference on Engaging North Korea: US Policies to Improve Bilateral Relations at George Washington University.

Please RSVP to let us know you will be joining us.
