Film: Incompatible Allies: Black Lives Matter, March 4 Our Lives

October 21, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

In Collaboration with Black Lives Matter-DC, Grassroots Media DC has produced a documentary that features the voices of African-American student activists within the DMV. Our aim was to capture their experiences with gun violence and their perspectives on gun violence prevention and community safety. The result is the film Incompatible Allies: Black Lives Matter, March for Our Lives and the US Debate about Guns and Violence..

Set during the week of this year’s March 4 Our Lives, the documentary offers a perspective often excluded from national conversations about gun control, highlighting the ways that violence in white communities is often seen as a national crisis, while violence in Black communities is often ignored.

The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion which aims to spur meaningful dialogue and provide audience members with ideas about how to pursue positive change. Come add your voice to this critically important and necessary dialogue.

Get tickets. Suggested donation is $10 per person. Donations go toward production of documentaries, shorter advocacy videos, and public education events, particularly in low-income communities where free food & childcare are provided. If you cannot attend, but would like to donate, you can make a contribution by clicking the PayPal link on the http://www.grassrootsdc.
