Ending the Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq

You are invited to discuss how to end the U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, featuring books by IPS authors Phyllis Bennis and Miriam Pemberton: Ending the US War in Afghanistan: A Primer and Lessons from Iraq: Avoiding the Next War.
- Phyllis Bennis directs the New Internationalism Project at the Institute for Policy Studies and is a fellow at the Transnational Institute.
- Raed Jarrar is Senior Fellow for Peace Action, Iraq Consultant for the American Friends Service Committee, and co-author of The Iraq War Blog, An Iraqi Family’s Inside View of the First Year of the Occupation.
- Miriam Pemberton is Research Fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies and annually helps to produce the “Unified Security Budget for the United States.”
- Gareth Porter is a historian, journalist, and policy analyst, and is the author of Perils of Dominance: Imbalance of Power and the Road to War in Vietnam.
