Busboys and Poets is proud to name its newest event space in honor of esteemed historian, activist and educator, Dr. Howard Zinn. Dr. Zinn’s book “A People’s History of the United States” has become a staple in history and civics classes across the country.

Join IPS and Busboys and Poets’ Hyattsville location will host a two part event to celebrate the formal dedication of its newest event space, the Howard “Zinn Room”.

From 5:30-8 pm in the Zinn Room, join us for the official dedication of the Howard Zinn Room and a fundraiser in support of the Zinn Education Project. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, beer & wine, a performance by Emma’s Revolution and special presentations by Dr. Cornel West, Jeff Zinn, Bernice Johnson Reagon, Phyllis Bennis, Amy Goodman, Dave Zirin, Marian Wright Edelman, Laura Flanders, Barbara Ehrenreich, Beverly Daniel Tatum and many more!

Tickets for the 6-8 pm portion of the evening are available with a $100 donation to the Zinn Education Project (these donations will be matched by an anonymous donor). Purchase tickets here.

From 8-10pm, everyone is invited to a free event, to be performed throughout the full restaurant, featuringlive music by Chelsey Green, special guest presentations, and a reading of People Speak Live! (with selections from Howard Zinn’s Voices of a People’s History).
