Black Alliance For Peace: Report Back From Venezuelan Embassy Protectors
August 15 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Black Alliance for Peace (BAP) National Coordinating Committee members Netfa Freeman and Vanessa Beck will provide a report back on their recent trip to Venezuela as members of the Embassy Protection Collective delegation.
The Embassy Protection Collective (EPC) occupied the Embassy of Venezuela for about 37 days, with permission from the Venezuelan government in Caracas, before U.S. federal law enforcement officers pried open the door and forcibly removed the final four demonstrators May 16th, ending a struggle for control over the country’s diplomatic mission in the United States.
The delegation of the EPC attended the São Paulo Forum, attended by anti-imperialist and pro-peace activists from around the world, participated in community meetings, met with various organizations and had a private meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
