The US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation is marking its 10th Annual Organizers’ Conference with a special benefit concert with world-renowned violinist and oud player, Simon Shaheen.
A Palestinian born in the village of Tarshiha in the Galilee, Shaheen began playing the oud at the age of five, and a year later began studying violin at the Conservatory for Western Classical Music in Haifa. Shaheen has become one of the most significant Arab musicians of his generation. His soaring technique and melodic ingenuity fuse together traditional Arabic music, jazz, and Western classical styles. He will be joined on stage by the wonderful Palestinian percussionist Michel Moushabeck. All proceeds from this benefit concert directly support the work of the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation.
