Welcome to the Revolution with Medea Benjamin and Charlie Derber

October 23, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

You’re invited to meet and talk with longtime activist and scholar Charles Derber, for the DC launch and signing of his new book that features “interludes” by such notables as Noam Chomsky, Ralph Nader, and Medea Benjamin.

Welcome To The Revolution: Universalizing Resistance For Social Justice And Democracy In Perilous Times is a master class in resistance. Written by Charles Derberr, a longtime academic and activist, the book is a timely guide to understanding and transforming our world in the Trump era. Derber argues that it is time for the left to channel the resurgent political consciousness and energy into a united movement to stop the rightwing juggernaut that has driven us to the brink of global catastrophe.

Author Charles Derber and his contributors show that what need most is to “universalize” our activism. That means recognizing how the injustices currently running rampant in our world are interlinked: militarism, xenophobia, racism, women’s oppression, mass incarceration, gaping inequality, and environmental destruction are connected and mutually reinforcing. They don’t occur in isolation and neither should our resistance. It is time to build a universalized movement that is intellectually and strategically prepared to tackle the root causes of injustice and oppression.

Co-sponsors: Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) project Ineqaulity.org, and more TBA.
