Intern Mixer with Rethink Press and Al Jazeera English

June 27, 2011 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

photo of Sebastian WalkerCurrently Al Jazeera English is available in only four U.S. cities. However, communities are organizing across the country to gain access to the network. Demand your AJE now. Join IPS’ New Internationalism and Rethink Press for this free intern networking event, featuring Al Jazeera English Correspondent Sebastian Walker, grassroots organizers from Burlington, VT and media activists.

Sebastian Walker is a correspondent for Al Jazeera, who has been based in Haiti for the last year. He arrived on the ground less than 24 hours after the earthquake hit and stayed on to document the progress of the relief effort, making Al Jazeera English the only international tv network to maintain a permanent presence in Port-au-Prince that year. Sebastian recently returned from Libya, Bahrain, Qatar and Egypt, where he was making a film on U.S. interests in the region for the Al Jazeera show Fault Lines.

The event is free. Cash bar. For more information, visit www.rethinkpress.org/InternEvent. Because seating is limited, RSVP to Amy Kyaw at amy@rethinkpress.org.
