Chuck Collins is the Director of the Institute for Policy Studies Program on Inequality and the Common Good in Washington D.C. He is also co-founder of Wealth for Common Good. Besides being an expert on economic inequality he has pioneered efforts to bring together investors and business leaders to speak out publicly against corporate practices and economic policies that increase economic inequality. He has co-authored a number of studies including “Billionaire Bonanza” exploring the share of wealth flowing to the top 1 percent and Forbes 400, and the “Ever Growing Gap”, which examines the future of the racial wealth divide.
First Parish in Bedford holds congregation made up by different beliefs and religious backgrounds to share our common search for truth and spiritual meaning. They enforce no creed or dogma. The members of the congregation elect its leadership annually and volunteer on many committees, task forces and ad hoc groups. Last, year the parish began offering sanctuary for immigrants facing deportation.
In line with the parish’s long history of advocating for social justice, it will host a special Bedford Lyceum with Collins to not only explain the roots and consequences of economic inequality, he offers several solutions which allow his audiences to engage in to reverse this trend. Author and expert on the growing dangers of income inequality on the US, Collins will be discussing and signing his recent book, “Born on Third Base, A One Percenter Makes the Case for Tackling Inequality, Bringing Wealth Home, and Committing to the Common Good”
