It was recently was announced that the Afghan government is set to retrieve two Western professors in a swap with Taliban leadership in which they will relinquish several Taliban prisoners.

The Westerners, American Kevin King and Australian Timothy Weeks, were kidnapped outside the American University in Kabul three years ago. Among the Taliban prisoners is Anas Haqqani, the older brother of the group’s deputy leader, who was seized in 2014.

Phyllis Bennis, director of the New Internationalism Project at the Institute for Policy Studies, joined Al Jazeera to discuss the exchange.
